RESILIENCE PURPOSE STRENGTH

RESILIENCE PURPOSE STRENGTH written by Sylvia Marina

There is an expression common to our society - brought up on the wrong side of the tracks. Meaning, the poor part of a town or city...he was a rich boy, and she was a girl from the other side of the tracks. You don’t want to buy in that neighborhood – it’s on the wrong side of the tracks – referencing the railway tracks.

I began life with few advantages.

Living primitively, no electricity or telephone, no radio! When I was a kid television wasn’t in New Zealand.

Our water came from the heavens or the creek at the bottom of the paddock. Milk from the cow which Brian milked before he went to school - I was two years younger, my jobs were to fetch kindling, feed the chickens, lambs and puppies.

In reflection we didn’t realize that our foods were organic.
Straight from nature’s garden to our mouth, our earthiness was our way of life.

Foraging for wild food (blackberries, mushrooms, fish, rabbits...), climbing trees and gathering wood on our way home was our way of life. Nature was always associated with freedom, freedom to see, freedom to think unstructured thoughts, to dream and plan – in the innocence of childhood I never considered how I would become all I dreamed I could be. I just knew I would.

Did I make mistakes?
Maybe! – I have many experiences and learned life lessons from those times.

This week my ‘first time client’ lamented, “I’ve done so many courses and use none of them”.
Yet! I answered.

It doesn’t matter what side of the track you grew up.
Little by little, daily, weekly, each year we learn, gather experience and become resilient and purpose focused.

Resilience, purpose and strength come from within. It’s in our DNA. Your intelligences are just waiting for you. Are you ready to waken all of your intelligences to join the dots and live your purpose?

Never let your past be a limitation – to me it is a gift, and hopefully one day you will see it that way too.

What is resilience?
People that are able to keep their cool have what psychology calls resilience – an ability to cope with problems or setbacks. Resilient people are able to utilize their skills and strengths to cope and recover from problems or challenges. Example: financial problems, medical emergencies, death of a loved one, divorce, loss of lifestyle, job loss.

Those who lack resilience often become overwhelmed, dwelling on the problems and using unhealthy coping mechanisms.

Resilience does not eliminate grief or erase life’s difficulties it gives people the strength to recognize what’s happening, seek solutions, overcome adversity and move on with their lives.

Resilience is locked within your intelligence. Unlock your intelligences, find freedom and you will shine.
