I SAW IT FIRST

I SAW IT FIRST written by Sylvia Marina

An age old cliché, ‘stop and smell the roses’ has solid meaning that seems to have been around forever and revived in the 1956 Walter Hagen story, Don't hurry. Don't worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.

David and I spent time together replenishing my inner core and connecting to my roots and heritage. In New Zealand we connected with family, visited our Marae, soaked in the mineral springs at Hanmer, drank in the beauty of the lakes and snow capped mountains and spent ages watching dozens of baby fur seals frolic and play in a natural rock pool at the foot of magnificent Ohau waterfall.

Between May and October the baby seals swim up the stream to frolic and play at the base of the
waterfall.  It is kindergarten seal style, we watched them rolling and cavorting over rocks and through the water. Every second day they go back to the sea to feed from their mothers – who or what tells them to do this?

Nature never ceases to intrigue, enchant and fascinate with wonderment and lessons.

There is so much to learn and watch, listen-to, appreciate and trust. Nature responds to its own DNA memory every moment of everyday, why is it that people are still asking and searching for their life path, their reason-to-be, their purpose?

I believe it is not a lack of intelligence but rather misuse of your inner compass which results in concealment and repression.

And more observances…emotionally captured by the beauty of the snowcapped mountains I watched, the mountain tops were vivid and distinct against the clear blue sky and then, moving slowly, ever so slowly like thoughts invading the purity and silence of the human mind the fluffy white clouds completely obscured the mountain.

Just because it is veiled, doesn’t mean it does not exist.

To a recent eyewitness, there were no mountains only clouds, but for me, I knew what my eye and camera had captured just moments before.
The mountains and the pathways on the mountains now totally hidden by another force of nature!

We were witnesses of this natural phenomenon – white fluffy, cauliflower shaped clouds that had no obvious physical weight entirely camouflaged the reality of what was present when actually both were simultaneously in attendance.

Though transient the clouds completely hid the mountain. Is this the reality of what happens on the path of life? Clouds of emotion, thoughts, beliefs, society or generational beliefs can camouflage your path and purpose.

In nature camouflage is reality.  Are you living your reality or have the winds, clouds, thoughts and ideas obscured the truth of the life you were born and intellectually gifted to live?
