HOW SELF CONFIDENT ARE YOU?

HOW SELF CONFIDENT ARE YOU? written by Sylvia Marina

How self confident are you? Are you full of confidence or do you wish you had more?

I spent the morning with two to five year olds. I loved their interaction, concern, care and kindness for each other. They were making play happen, running, hiding, enjoying, falling, getting up again, quick recovery and continuing play.

I delighted in the joy of being who they are.  And something else… they smiled and chatted and helped each other. They were not afraid to make their requests heard – I loved that.  At this children’s birthday party the inclusiveness, respect and social interaction between the parents were living examples to their children.

The efficacy you have of yourself is the single most important factor for a fulfilling life.
Having a low opinion of your self is not modesty it is self destruction. Remember the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson “Self-trust is the first secret of success.” Holding your uniqueness in high regard is not egotism, it is a vital necessity to happiness and achievement.

A quote from Anna Freud “I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence but it comes from within. It is there all the time.”

Self confidence plays a role in all our decisions and affects how satisfied you are with the choices you make and how you perform.

Self-confidence is the belief, assurance trust we have of our-self, our knowledge and abilities. It is the ‘can do’ ability and the ‘not afraid to ask’ ability. It is trusting our intelligences, our wisdom, our self. It is having patience and grace and learning to respect others and our own untapped intelligences knowing we are all in the learning, discovering and growing, journey of life.
